Mauro Icardi Pulls Out Of Argentina Squad For Friendly Game Against Super Eagles

Inter-Milan striker Mauro Icardi won’t be part of the Argentina senior national team when they take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria according to a statement released by the Argentine Football Association.

Icardi picked up an injury in Inter-Milan 1-1 draw against Torino in a Serie A Clash earlier today, and will undergo test to determine the severity of the injury.

No replacement has been named in his place although there are indications that coach Jorge Sampaoli could draft in one of the players called up from the domestic league in Argentina in his place.

Argentina are already through to the World Cup just like Nigeria, and they will play two tune up game this month, the first of which will be against the host of next year World Cup Russia.

The game against Nigeria will be played four days after the Russian game with the Super Eagles expected to fly in from Algeria after their dead rubber World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Algeria.
