Coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has picked the goal scorer for Nigeria in their 1-1 draw against Algeria John Ogu as his man of the match in the Friday encounter.
Ogu scored a 25 yard screamer to open scoring for Nigeria before a controversial late penalty helped Algeria draw level in what was the final World Cup 2018 Qualifiers game for both team.
Rohr told Nigerian newspaper Sportinglife that bar the goal scored by the Hapoel Be’er Sheva man, he was also very useful to the team in other areas especially when they were under pressure.
” I will say John Ogu is my man of the match, he was very useful in our midfield and also did the dirty job of helping us when we were under pressure “, Rohr said.
” Aside his goal, he had a very good game overall, his passing was very good during the game and he gave us balance when we needed one. This type of performance from a player who hasn’t played much for the team encourages me a lot”.
