There are indications that on loan Manchester City midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali has blown away a glorious chance to gatecrash the Nigerian team to the 2018 World Cup in Russia next year.
Nwakali was giving a shock call up to the Nigeria national team for the games against Algeria and Argentina, but he failed to displace any of the player preferred by coach Gernot Rohr.
His case was not helped by his not too impressive showing in training where he played like someone with a lot to offer but holding himself back, may be due to the senior and established players in the set up.
Rohr was left disappointed by his performance and even though the player who is on loan to Sogndal of Norway from Manchester City might still get a look in, he is no longer in the race to be at the World Cup,
Although Rohr views him like a player who could be of use to the team in the future if he keeps improving, and probably a recall to Man City in January will also boost his chance of a second chance to impress Rohr.
However for the main time just like Nosa Igiebor, Anderson Esiti, Maroof Youssef and host of other players, Rohr appears to have moved on from them to trying other options ahead of the World Cup in Russia.
