CD Feirense of Portugal shot stopper Dele Alampasu is still in the plans of coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr ahead of the World Cup in Russia next year.
Many have thought that the emergence of Francis Odinaka Uzoho who made his debut against Argentina in Tuesday’s 4-2 friendly win over Argentina could mean the end of Alampasu’s international career.
However coach of the team Rohr will still hand the former Nigeria U17 goalkeeper, who was first choice ahead of Uzoho in the 2013 World Youth Championship a chance to fight for a shirt next year.
” Dele (Alampasu) still has a chance of going to the World Cup with Nigeria, Uzoho’s emergence doesn’t mean the end of him. He has been with the team and Rohr will no doubt give him a shot at the number one gloves next year”, a team source told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” Uzoho is now ahead of even Akpeyi but it still doesn’t mean he is first choice, there’s a long way to go from now till the World Cup in Russia, so every goalkeeper doing well will get a look in”.
