Recently capped goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Francis Odinaka Uzoho inspired Deportivo La Coruna B to a 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid B in a third division game in Spain.
The clean sheet was his fourth in seven games for the B team of the La-Liga side who are currently top of the third division and are looking good for promotion to the second division.
His clean sheet came at a time when the first team are struggling in keeping clean sheets as the return of first choice goalkeeper Ruben Martinez still didn’t stop them from conceding thrice in their 2-3 loss to Malaga in the La-Liga.
19 year old Uzoho is widely favoured by the coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr among the choice of goalkeepers available to the coach ahead of Nigeria’s campaign at the World Cup 2018 in Russia next year.
For now there’s no talk about returning him to the first team where he impressed in the games he played in the La-Liga, and even in the B team he rotates the goalkeeper responsibilities with Alex Cobo, who is three years older than him.
