The coach of top division Dutch side ADO Den Haag says the club are currently in talks with Super Eagles latest sensation Tyronne Ebuehi over signing a contract extension at the club.
Alfons Groenendijk made this known in an interview with FOX Sports while discussing the rapid progress of the 21 year old, who made a positive impression in Nigeria’s last game against Argentina in Russia, which they won 4-2.
” We really want him to stay with us, and I have made this known to the club and his agent. But any agreement has to come from both sides, I have spoken to him, it would be good if he stayed with us for another two years, he has good qualities”. He said.
When asked why ADO Den Haag did not start talks with the 21 year old last year, the coach explained that at that time he wasn’t playing regularly for the club.
” At the time, he did not play regularly at ADO Den Haag, but his development has been speeding up, but in the meantime the talks have been running for several months”, he explained.
Although there are no fears about the player leaving the club anytime soon, they are however wary that a strong showing for Nigeria at the World Cup 2018 in Russia could weaken their negotiation power.
