Former Mainz 05, Werder Bremen and Cologne striker Anthony Ujah is set for a return to the German Bundesliga after terminating his contract with relegated Chinese side FC Liaoning.
Ujah reached a mutual agreement with FC Liaoning to terminate his contract following their relegation to the second division from the Chinese Super League at the end of the recently concluded season in China.
The 27 year old is hence free to move to any club when the transfer window opens in January, and recent reports suggest German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim are the front runners for his signature.
Their interest is more serious as there are rumours that they could lose their top striker Sandro Wagner to Bayern Munich in January and Ujah will be a like for like replacement if he leaves as expected.
Talks are reported at an advanced stage with Ujah who is also keen on a return to the Bundesliga to aid his chances of breaking into the Nigerian team for the World Cup 2018 in Russia next year.
