A member of the Nigeria U17 of 2016 that failed to qualify for the defence of the title Nigeria won at the 2016 World Youth Championship Chigozie Umeh has made the step up to the first team of Czech giants Sparta Prague.
Umeh was signed alongside Suleiman Ibrahim by the club in the summer from Jos based football academy Geelec, a transfer exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com few months ago.
Already in training with the Czech Republic side, 18 year old Umeh was expected to spend most of his first season at the club with the youth team by his form has lead to a promotion to the first team.
He now trains regularly with the first team alongside top stars like French midfielder Rio Mavuba and Cameroonian national team midfielder Georges Mandjeck.
Originally a box to box midfielder in the mould of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, Umeh is also comfortable as a right back, and he excelled in both role during the games where he was spotted by scouts of the Czech giants.
