Sparta Rotterdam have confirmed the signing of 22 year old Nigerian forward Fred Friday on loan from AZ Alkmaar until the end of the 2017/2018 Dutch league.
The Nigerian who joined AZ in 2016 from Norwegian side Lillestroem has failed to nailed in a permanent spot in the line up of the team, although he has found the back of the net 18 times in 37 league games.
Still highly rated by the technical crew of AZ, the forward who is managed by popular Nigerian agent Atta Aneke will be hoping to get more game time at Sparta Rotterdam, who are presently placed 17th on the 18 team Eredivisie table.
His main job will be to solve the goal scoring issue of the team, that has seen them score just 13 goals in 17 games before the league went on break for the end of the first stanza.
He is expected to team up with Sparta Rotterdam at their training camp in Sotogrande Spain, which is few kilometres from where his parent club AZ are also training ahead of the second stanza of the league in the Netherlands.
Speaking on his arrival, the Technical Adviser of Sparta Leo Beenhakker revealed Fred was their main target to bolster their attack in January, and he is delighted they have eventually sign him on loan.
” Fred was at the top of our list to reinforce our attack and we are glad that we have now made it official and he will join us”, he told the official website of Sparta Rotterdam.
