Nigeria Inter striker Olarewaju Kayode is set to join French Ligue 1 side Amiens on loan from Manchester City for the rest of the 2017/2018 season after struggling to impress at Spanish side Girona.
Kayode joined Man City after emerging as the best player in Austria, after scoring 24 goals for Austrian Wien and he was immediately loaned out to Girona, who are partly owned by Man City.
However, the 24 year old failed to nail down a regular spot in the team, and since the turn of the year he has failed to make the matchday squad for any of their games.
Girona according to several reports terminated his loan deal, leaving City with no option but to search for another loan destination for the forward, who is still not eligible to play for them as he isn’t qualify for a work permit in England yet.
Although there were rumours of interest in his services from teams in Turkey and the Netherlands, Ligue 1 side Amiens have won the race for his signature for the rest of the season.
The former Nigeria youth international is pushing for regular game time in his bid to force his way into the Nigerian team for the World Cup holding in Russia.
Amiens are currently placed 16th on the French Ligue 1 table after 20 games, just two points out of the drop zone in the league, no thanks to the poor conversation rate of their strikers.
They have scored just 16 goals this season, and they will be hoping Kayode recapture same home he displayed at Austria Wien where he scored 17 league goals two years ago.
