Chidozie Awaziem Shines For Nantes Again, Plays Down Display Against Mbappe


The fine form of Nigeria international defender Chidozie Awaziem for French side Nantes continued yesterday in their 1-1 draw against Toulouse in the French Ligue 1.


Awaziem was on for the entire duration of the game, and despite his team conceding a late penalty to draw 1-1, the Nigerian was one of the best players on the pitch for coach Claudio Ranieri side.

The Nigerian who is on a season long loan to the modest French side from Portuguese giants FC Porto played from the right as part of the back four of 5th place Nantes.

Speaking to after the game, Awaziem expressed his disappointment over his team inability to pick all three points, but insist they are still happy with a point.

” We are disappointed over the result because we did a lot to win the game, conceding very late is heart breaking, we are however delighted with a point because Toulouse are a very difficult team to play at home”, Awaziem said.

Three days ago, Awaziem was roundly praised for his performance against France wonder boy Kylian Mbappe Lotin despite his team losing 0-1 against the run away league leaders.

He however played it down by insisting his team picking a good result would have been more delightful to him than his performance against Mbappe in the game.

” I had a good game according to most people but I will gladly take three points or one for my team in exchange for me performing well. It’s a team sport and the joy of the team is my delight not my performance “.
