Revealed – The Role Eagles Coach Rohr Played In Shehu Abdullahi’s Move To Bursaspor

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr played a role in convincing Turkish side Bursaspor to sign Nigeria international Shehu Abdullahi from Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta.

Shehu will officially join the Turkish side tomorrow in a deal that will cost Bursaspor a fee in the region of €300,000 , and he will become the third senior international player of Nigeria at the club with Mikel Agu and William Troost-Ekong completing the list.

Rohr few days after extending his contract with the national team of Nigeria for another two years told journalists in Lagos after the event about his close relationship with the coach Of Bursaspor Paul Le Guen.

The Franco-German coach of the Nigerian team was the first to mention Abdullahi’s move to Bursaspor, when he spoke about the need for the 24 year old, who is now Nigeria’s first choice right back to move to a bigger league from Cyprus.

“We are watching all our players and we want to step in when they need help to ensure that they have a sense of belonging – which is why we are looking at getting a bigger club for our right back Shehu Abdullahi, who is in Cyprus”, he told journalists in Lagos on Tuesday.

“I have a good relationship with Paul Le Guen, the coach of (William) Troost-Ekong and (Mikel) Agu at Bursaspor and I think they interested in signing Shehu from his Cypriot club”, the coach said three days before both clubs announced the transfer.

Abdullahi will from tomorrow begin a two and half year stay at the Turkish side , where he will be hoping to improve further ahead of Nigeria’s participation at the World Cup later in the Russia.
