35 year old out of favour Lille of France goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama won’t be representing Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia later in the year , Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr left the national team door open for Enyeama, who quit the team two years ago following a mini goalkeeper crisis, especially after first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with Leukaemia.
However, the coach insist that the former captain of the Super Eagles must play regularly at his club side before he would be considered for a spot in the squad. Enyeama who was out injured after a surgery at the start of the season is yet to play a single game this season.
Former coach of Lille Marcelo Bielsa axed him from the first team, but despite his sacking Enyeama is yet to return back to first team, as he has been largely involved with the Reserve of the Ligue 1 side.
A move away from Lille was on the cards with Angers reportedly keen on his services. According to several reports Angers failed to reach an agreement with Lille for his transfer and the move fell through .
Enyeama was however expected to still move at least before the end of the January transfer window but that too didn’t happen, which means he will stay inactive till at least after the World Cup next summer.
