Moses Simon made his return from injury for Belgium side Gent but watched on as his team let slip what would have been a dramatic draw to lose 2-3 against Oostende with virtually the last kick of the game.
The Super Eagles forward was introduced with two minutes left to play in the game with his team trailing the visitors 0-2, and his presence galvanised his side as they battled their way back to 2-2.
Out of favour Super Eagles forward Joseph Akpala scored the second goal for Oostende, but a late strike from the spot by Roman Yaremchuk drew Gent level in the 90th minute.
However their joy was short lived when Richairo Zivkovic scored what ended as the winner one minute after Gent levelled scored to hand Oostende a precious three point away from home.
For Simon it was a happy return nonetheless as he was feared out for a longer period of time, but his recovery which he described as a miracle in an interview with Owngoalnigeria.com made it possible.
He is now in frame to be called up to the senior national team of Nigeria ahead of their upcoming friendly games against Poland and Serbia later this month as part of their preparations for the World Cup.
