Portuguese giants FC Porto have knocked back a bid for Chidozie Awaziem from English Premier League bound Wolverhampton Wanderers , who is currently out on loan at French Ligue 1 side Nantes.
The English Championship side are favourite to clinch promotion to the English Premier League, and Awaziem is among the players they have pencilled down for recruitment in the summer in preparations for the challenge of the English top flight .
Coach of Wolves Nuno Espirito Santo worked with the Nigeria international defender at FC Porto last season, and he is keen on reuniting with the former Gee-Lec Academy rising star at the Molineux.
However, their opening bid for the 21 year old which is believed to be in the region of around £8m was knocked back by the Portuguese side who are also keen on having him back with them next season.
Awaziem has grown in leaps and bounds at Nantes this season with 19 games under his belt and a goal from his role as a central defender. Although Nantes are keen on buying him outright when his loan ends in the summer, a fee is yet to be agreed with Porto.
Porto loaned him to Nantes with an option for the French side to buy him at the end of his loan spell, but a transfer fee has to be agreed even if Nantes exercise their right to buy him.
