Former Nigeria U17 and 20 star forward Samuel Chukwueze was the star of the U18s of Spanish La-Liga side Villarreal in their 8-2 win over Ucam Murcia.
Chukwueze completed his move to the LaLiga side a little over a year ago as first reported by Owngoalnigeria.com, and he has settled down to life at his new surroundings quicker than many expected.
He has impressed playing as the number ten of the team, a role which many didn’t see him play for Nigeria at U17 and 20 level where he made his mark before his move.
After impressing in the number ten role in the earlier games of the season, he has returned back to his preferred position as a winger from either flank and he made a positive impression against Ucam Murcia.
He provided the cross for the first goal scored by his team before getting on the score sheet with a smart finish with his left after cutting in from the right flank. He reproduced same technique for his second goal of the game.
His third goal was a brilliant solo run from almost the half way mark, a run which left his markers for dead before he cheekily lifted the ball over the rushing Ucam Murcia goalkeeper for his hattrick.
Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively report that he is among the foreign based players who are expected to join the Nigeria U20 team of coach Paul Aigbogun after the end of the European season.
Although he was a part of the team of coach Emmanuel Amuneke that failed to qualify for the African Youth Championship last time out, he is still within the age bracket of playing in same tournament again.
