Mixed reactions has trailed the release of the Super Eagles 30 man provisional list for the World Cup in Russia starting in June following the release of the list by coach Gernot Rohr.
Daniel Amokachi who was a part of the coaching crew of the national team of Nigeria to the last World Cup in Brazil has also given his opinion on the list.
Amokachi backed the coach over the list, insisting that the list has names of the best players Nigeria can boast of at the moment but said many expected Brown Ideye and Henry Onyekuru to be in the list.
The duo didn’t end the season on a very good note with Ideye failing to rescue Laliga side Malaga from relegation following his loan move to the club in January from Chinese side Tianjin Teda. Onyekuru who spent the season on loan to Belgium side Anderlecht from Everton failed to play a single this year since his return from the injury he sustained in December.
“I don’t have much to say on this. The coach has the final say. He knows what he wants. His perception remains unquestionable to me. As for me, I believe he has picked the best legs for the tournament. He rolled out the name most Nigerians are expecting”, he told Sportsvillagesquare.com
“Although the likes of Brown Ideye, Henry Onyekuru were some omissions some people expected to be considered, it is left for those chosen in their places to prove the coach right. With this team, I still believe the team can break a jinx in Russia.
“I saw the spirit of determination in the team. Everyone is willing to make an impact right from their first World Cup qualifier match. I wish them the very best of luck,” he stated.
