Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was given a heroic send off by the management and fans of his club Chippa United as he heads to join the Nigerian team in preparations for the World Cup in Russia.
Akpeyi who ended the season on a high with several man of the match displays after a sluggish start to the season which almost cost him his first team spot is the only player from the modest Premier South African League ( PSL) side who is heading to the World Cup.
The management of the team and selected fans escorted him to the airport where he boarded a plane to Uyo to team up with the Nigerian team ahead of their friendly game against Congo.
An appreciative post on the club official twitter handle with the news of the gesture by the management of the team and some fans was sighted by Owngoalnigeria.com few days ago.
