Flying Eagles of Nigeria defeated their counterparts from Guinea Bissau 1-0 to progress on a 3-2 aggregate score, leaving Mauritania as the last team they have to beat ‎to secure a spot at the African Youth Championship.

Mike Zaruma : Solid right full back who is also capable of hitting powerful shots from range. Yesterday his attacking instincts were a bit restricted but he did show his qualities in defending and also helping the team transition from defence to attack.

Ibrahim Alhassan – Had couple of nice touches and ever willing to get on the ball to make things work. Kept his nerves to score the spot kick which decided the game in favour of the Flying Eagles. He need to however learn to take up scoring positions.

Wasiu Alalade – Quick, strong and skilful, he was a thorn in the flesh of the defenders of Guinea Bissau. His finishing still need work but overall had a very solid outing. Won the penalty which was converted by Alhassan Ibrahim.

Ikouwem Utin Udoh – The captain was very much his self. Assured in possession and confident in defending. Truly deserves to be named the man of the match. On the strength of his display he could be a very important player for Nigeria in the nearest future.

Jesse Akila – Eyebrows were raised when he was dropped from the squad that prosecuted the first leg in Bissau and he marked his return to the team by starting in attack. Didn’t get to score but his physical presence gave Guinea Bissau defenders all sort of trouble.
