So many players have distinguished themselves since the senior national team of Nigeria commenced training for their upcoming friendly game against Congo in Port Hacourt.
Owngoalnigeria.com have witnessed all of their sessions and our correspondent compiled the main highlights he has seen so far since training started two days ago at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
No one has ever doubted his abilities when it comes to scoring goals but the frequency with which he has been scoring in training shows he has improved tremendously in what he knows how to do best.
He has scored the most during shooting drills thanks to his shooting accuracy and he followed up his three goals in the first day of training with another in yesterday’s session during the test game which ended 1-1.
Simeone Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy)
The Crotone forward has truly impressed with his goal sense and abilities during shooting drills. His frame which makes him very noticeable has also proved to useful in aerial duels.
His technique when face to face with the goalkeeper has been very impressive, the composure, the calmness and the execution have all been spot on.
Nigeria have struggled to produce a dead ball specialist for a while now but all of that could be in the past if FC Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem gets to take set pieces for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia.
So far he has impressed in training with his ability to bend balls which in turn has given the goalkeepers in camp a lot to worry about. At French Ligue 1 side Nantes where he was on loan last season, Awaziem was among the free kick takers of the team.
