Coach of FC Porto Sergio Conceicao has confirmed that Nigerian duo Chidozie Awaziem and Mikel Agu are in his plans for next season after their impressive performance on loan last season.
The duo who are both senior international players for Nigeria were sent out on loan by Porto before the start of last season with Agu heading to Turkish side Bursaspor while Awaziem went to French Ligue 1 side Nantes.
Awaziem played 23 French Ligue 1 games for Nantes with a goal from his name from his role as a central defender while Agu played 26 Turkish League games with two goals to his name from his midfield position.
During the course of last season both players were named in several Team of the Week after round of games with Awaziem earning three nominations for club player of the month award although he ended not winning any till the season ended.
Speaking ahead of the start of pre season, Conceicao said the duo are firmly in his plans after their fine performance on loan last season, “Chidozie has had a very good season, Mikel as well. André Pereira had six interesting months[at VSetúbal]. We’re already aware of Galeno and Fede Varela’s quality”, Conceição said while speaking on which of the 27 Porto players loaned out last season he wants to see during the pre-season.
