Chelsea teen defender Ola Aina could yet make Nigeria’s squad to the World Cup 2018 in Russia, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal base on reports coming out of the camp of the team.
Aina was among the players dropped by coach Gernot Rohr after the pruning down of the 30 man provisional list to 25 players ahead of their friendly game against England at Wembley.
The full back could however make the squad as coach Gernot Rohr still has doubts over the fitness of Benfica new signing Tyronne Ebuehi who was substituted in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Congo DR.
Although it was confirmed that he suffered from cramps in his muscle, the coaches are still monitoring his situation, hence the decision to keep Ola Aina with the squad until at least after the England game.
If Ebuehi fails to recover, then Aina will be drafted in as his replacement, a source told Owngoalnigeria.com ” Aina is still in with a slim chance but it all depends on how quick Ebuehi recovers. For now he is not in contention to make the team to the World Cup but will remain with the team”, a team source told Owngoalnigeria.com.
