Former Nigeria international Celestine Babayaro has termed the omission of Moses Simon from the Nigerian team as a big miss following the injury which ruled him out of the World Cup.
Simon was finally ruled out today after a scan in London confirmed he will be out for a period of two weeks which automatically rules him out of the tournament, where he was tipped to star for Nigeria.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com, the former Chelsea star said Simon gives the Nigerian team an edge once it comes to breaking down opponents who sit deep in numbers.
” It’s a pity that the Super Eagles won’t have the crafty Moses Simon for the World Cup. He is one player who can go past players in a flash . His omission will no doubt affect the team when it comes to breaking down opponents who are set up in a defensive way”, Babayaro told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” Simon dribbles very well and that is a plus because the team can’t boast of a better player than him when it comes to taking opponents out for others to penetrate. We no longer have players who can dribble like we use to and that is why his omission will hurt the team”.
