Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has provided the strongest hint suggesting he could use Deportivo La Coruna shot stopper Francis Uzoho as his first choice goalkeeper at the World Cup in Russia.
Uzoho has started the last four friendly games of Nigeria and today he impressed despite the fact that he should have done better for the second goal scored by England in the 1-2 loss suffered by Nigeria.
Speaking after the game Rohr praised his performance in the game which he started ahead of the experienced duo of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi at the famous Wembley stadium in England.
” He needs the experience. He played at Wembley and against Poland so he is already having a feel of how it feels like to play against some of the teams in the world. He is quite tall, good at playing the ball out from the back and in his goal line but he still has a lot of work to do”, Rohr said after the game.
” As a team we still have areas to work on not just with the goalkeepers. Uzoho has improved but we have other goalkeepers who are also good and we will see them in our friendly before the World Cup ‘, he concluded.
