The duo of Mikel Agu and Ola Aina who were dropped from Nigeria’s squad for the Russia 2018 World Cup have both left the camp of the team for their respective base, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
They were permitted by coach Gernot Rohr to stay and train with team as standby players considering they could be needed if any of the players in the main squad picks up an injury.
However they both turned down the option and they have since returned back to their base with Agu heading to Turkey, where he spent last season on loan to Bursaspor from FC Porto.
Aina who knew about his fate even before the team departed England, where they took on England in a friendly game which ended 2-1 in favour of the host decided to stay behind in London instead of following the Eagles to their training camp in Austria.
Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has already assured the duo about their future with the national team of Nigeria after the World Cup ahead of their campaign at the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
