Ebuehi’s Decision To Play For Nigeria Ahead Of Holland Sparks Row Between Dutch FA & ADO Den Haag

The decision of Dutch-Nigerian defender Tyronne Ebuehi to play for Nigeria ahead of Holland has sparked a disagreement between the Dutch FA and his former club ADO Den Haag.

Ebuehi decider to play for Nigeria a little over a year ago at the age of 21 and despite being eligible to play for the Netherlands he wasn’t called up to any of their age group teams before the switch to Nigeria.

Usually clubs are contacted by the Dutch FA to send names of prospect for the various age grade teams but ADO Den Haag, the only club Ebuehi represented in Holland didn’t forward his name for consideration before his decision to play for Nigeria.

Named in Nigeria’s World Cup squad for the World Cup in Russia starting in ten days time, his performance for Nigeria in several friendly game and his move to Portuguese giants Benfica has further irked the Dutch FA.

As a country the Netherlands are rebuilding their national team and Ebuehi would have been considered as right back is one area where the Dutch are currently short of options.
