The Nigerian team were once again at the losing end in their final friendly game ahead of the start of the World Cup by losing 0-1 to Czech Republic in a friendly game played in Austria.

A solitary first half strike from Halas in the first half decided the tie in favour of the European side as Nigeria who were unlucky with the several chances they created in the second half.

The closest the Nigerian team came to scoring in the first half was courtesy of Wilfred Ndidi who hit a speculative effort from range that almost beat the goalkeeper who had to save at full stretch.

Super Eagles dominated the second half but poor decision in the opponent’s half and a terrible miss from Victor Moses denied them the chance to level the tie, which was interrupted for close to ten minutes due to heavy downpour.

Nigeria will head into their first group game against Croatia on the 16th without a win in their last three matches which saw them grind out a 1-1 draw against Congo DR, a 1-2 loss to England and today’s 0-1 loss to Czech Republic.
