World Cup bound Super Eagles of Nigeria defender Chidozie Awaziem who spent last season on loan to French Ligue 1 side Nantes has been offered fresh terms by his parent owners FC Porto.
Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that Porto are keen on having him play for their first team next season after his impressive stint on loan in France with Nantes, and with two years left to run in his deal, they are keen on extending it by a further three years.
The sale of Awaziem’s Porto B teammate Diogo Dalot to Manchester United has further pushed Porto to move to tie Awaziem to al long term contract with his wage set to increased to meet the standard of a first team player at the club.
A member of the Nigerian team for the World Cup, Awaziem who made the step up from the youth team to the main team of the Portuguese side is believed to be a target for top clubs in Europe, who are willing to pay him more than what he is earning at Porto.
The new deal offered to him by Porto is yet to be signed but a member of his management team confirmed they have held preliminary talks over it and talks will continue in the coming days.
