Captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria John Obi Mikel has had his say on the Super Eagles 0-1 loss to Czech Republic, a game which happens to be their last friendly game before the start of the World Cup in Russia.
Mikel was on for the majority of the game, which was decided by a first half goal and he was part of the much improved team that almost drew the Eagles level in the second half of the game played in Austria.
Speaking on the loss he blamed it on the weather and also the fact that they had to travel over an hour from their camp to the stadium where the game was played. Suggesting that fatigue played a part in the defeat.
He also said the team need to focus on the task ahead of them and not read too much meaning into the friendly game results as it will be a different ball game when the World Cup starts in Russia.
The captain also dismissed fears about the Nigerian team as been inexperienced due to the fact that they have the youngest average age among teams that will participate at the World Cup. Insisting that the young players in the team have gathered considerable experience from top level games in Europe.
