Akpeyi Roars – I’m Good Enough To Be In Goal But I Will Support Whoever Is Picked

Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi says he is capable of keeping goal for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia despite doubts by some Nigerians over his abilities base on past displays in the colours of Nigeria.

Akpeyi who is the sole representative of the Premier South African League ( PSL) at the World Cup will likely play second fiddle to the duo of Francis Uzoho who is widely expected to be in goal while Ikechukwu Ezenwa is widely favoured to be second choice.

Although he is the most experienced among the trio, Akpeyi said he won’t be bitter if he is not selected to play but will give his all in terms of support to whoever is picked by the coaches even though he believe he can also do a good job.

” We are teammates and not rivals and whoever is selected to be in goal will get my backing as usual. With all due respect to the goalkeepers here, I’m the most experienced and I believe I will do well if selected by the coaches”, Akpeyi told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” The coaches will decide who will be in goal and once that is made we will all support whoever is picked. The team comes first and hopefully we will deliver at the World Cup in Russia “, he remarked.
