Nigerian forward Theophilus Solomon has missed out on a chance to join newly promoted German second division side Paderborn, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The 22 year old who had two loan spells last season at Serbia side Partizan Belgrade and Cypriot Omonia Nicosia was prime to join Paderborn before Rijeka pull the plug on the deal with their excessive demand.
Paderborn were willing to pay a fee in the region of 250-300 thousand euros for the forward once dubbed the “Nigerian Ronaldo ” but Rijeka insist on a price of 500,000 euros plus add ons which will potential see his transfer fee rise to almost a million euros.
Solomon was keen on reuniting with his former teammate at Rijeka Jamilu Colins who was instrumental in helping the club gain promotion to the second division with a goal from his role as a left back from a total of 19 games.
Rijeka are according to several reports ready to sanction a permanent transfer for the forward to any team willing to agree to their terms of a hefty percentage from his sale in the future, something which could scare top teams away from him.
