The duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo popularly referred to as Simy have struck up a very good understanding in training, Owngoalnigeria.com Samuel Thompson reports.
Their partnership which started in Uyo before the friendly game against Congo DR in Port Hacourt saw the duo leading the line for Nigeria in the friendly game which ended 1-1. Although defender William Troost-Ekong got the only goal for Nigeria.
In London during the build up to the friendly game against England their partnership as strikers for the B team caused panic to the defence of the A team which has Leon Balogun and Ekong as base.
During their camp in Austria which just ended, they accounted for almost seven goals with Iheanacho flourishing in a role just behind Simy who has been deployed mainly as a top striker.
Simy has proven himself to be a knock down specialist for others to pounce, his ability to flick the ball behind defenders coupled with Iheanacho’s well timed runs behind defenders has contributed to the goals the duo have scored in training.
