Newly signed on Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun is feared out of Nigeria’s opening World Cup 2018 game against Croatia on Saturday.
Balogun missed the team’s training session today as he went for a scan to determine the severity of the injury he picked up in training yesterday as the Eagles step up preparations for the Croatia clash.
Officials of the team refused to comment on his absence from the session which lasted a little over two hours with possible formations and game plan the highlight while it lasted.
If he is ruled out as feared, coach Gernot Rohr could revert to a 3-5-2 formation to make up for his absence , as the team can adequately cope with his absence in that formation as witnessed during their friendly games.
Coach Gernot Rohr might however stick to his preferred formation of four at the back with the duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem in line to deputise for Balogun alongside William Troost-Ekong in central defence.
