Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has given an update on defender Leon Balogun who is battling to be fit for tomorrow’s group D game against Croatia in Kaliningrad .
Balogun picked up a knock in training two days back which ruled him out of yesterday’s training session as he underwent a scan to determine the extent of the damage he suffered.
Speaking at the ongoing pre match conference ahead of tomorrow’s game, Rohr confirmed that the newly signed on Mainz 05 defender is indeed an injury concern but said a decision will be made tomorrow morning on if he will play or not.
Rohr rated the chances of the 29 year old making the line up for tomorrow’s game as 50-50 but added that the team should be able to cope if he ends up losing the battle to be fit.
Already, Kenneth Omeruo is warming to replace him although he face competition for a starting spot to pair William Troost-Ekong in central defence from FC Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem .
