The senior national team of Nigeria had a shooting session during their yesterday’s training ahead of tomorrow’s Russia 2018 opening group game against Croatia in Kaliningrad.
During the drills goalkeepers were paired against the outfield players and the likes of John Ogu, Wilfred Ndidi and captain of the team John Obi Mikel showed their strength when it comes to shooting.
Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho who is set to keep goal for Nigeria in tomorrow’s game cemented his spot with a near perfect display in the exercise with his reflex, timing of his dives and also ball handling. Uzoho also punched with force when he had to.
Daniel Akpeyi was also impressive with his handling and also his reflexes but still didn’t make enough saves like Uzoho but he however stopped more balls than Ikechukwu Ezenwa during the drill.
The rise of Uzoho has been phenomenal considering that he is the third choice goalkeeper at relegated LaLiga side Deportivo La Coruna, where he only made four first team appearance for the main team.
