Beyond making a good impression at the Russia 2018 World Cup, coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr says he is building a team which will compete favourably at the World Cup 2020 In Qatar.
Rohr made this known during the pre match conference ahead of tomorrow’s game against Croatia in Kaliningrad, which will be Nigeria’s opening game at the World Cup.
The coach said the Nigerian team is a young team and he hope to have the bulk of the team available when the World Cup 2022 in Qatar gets underway but he also said that doesn’t mean that they won’t put a strong performance in Russia.
” This team is really being readied for the 2022 World Cup because they are young. That is not saying we do not want to do very well here ( Russia 2018) because we want to, but the bulk of the team is young and will be ready to get very far in 2022″, the coach explained.
Nigeria are grouped alongside tomorrow’s opponent Croatia in group D alongside Iceland and Argentina, with most fans of the Super Eagles expecting them to at least progress beyond the group stages.
