Former captain of the Super Eagles Austin Okocha has faulted the tactics used by the Super Eagles in the 0-2 loss to Croatia in yesterday’s World Cup 2018 group D game.

Okocha was in the studio as a guest analyst for SuperSport feels the Eagles should have used the 3-5-2 formation other than the 4-2-3-1 used by coach Gernot Rohr in the defeat.

Super Eagles have played well using the 3-5-2 formation in previous games including the comeback 4-2 win over Argentina in a friendly played in November.

In yesterday’s game Rohr hanged on to his trusted 4-2-3-1 formation which Okocha feels cost the team dearly in the defeat which has placed them bottom of their group with Iceland and Argentina tied on one point after their 1-1 draw.

“The manager didn’t earn his money today. We were not a threat in the first half and I was expecting him to play three at the back, five players in the midfield and two strikers to the team a chance to get back into the game.

“It is sad because I know we can do better than this. Of course there is still hope but we have to do it the hard way now.

“These (Croatians) are world class players who know how to win by exploiting little details.”
