‘We Have To Stop Nigeria From Using Their Pace’ – Argentina Coach Tells Players

Coach of the national team of Argentina Jorge Sampaoli says his team will approach the game against Nigeria with a game plan to stop the Nigerians from using their pace against his defenders later today.

Sampaoli admitted that his team are not blessed with the quickest players in defence as against Nigeria who are blessed with quick players in attack as witnessed against Iceland.

The coach said the pace of Nigeria when they break forward is one area they will work on but insist that stopping them from breaking away is their first job as a team ahead of today’s game.

” We have to be honest with ourselves. Nigeria have very quick players and they can turn the defence into attack with pace. We have have to deal with it as team. The main thing is to stop them from having the chance to use it”, Sampaoli said in yesterday’s press conference.

The game will be played by 7pm Nigerian time with the Super Eagles needing an outright win to progress to the round of 16, while even a win for Argentina will not be sufficient enough for them to progress unless result in the other group game between Croatia and Iceland go their way.
