A fresh face will likely be in the list of the Super Eagles when it is released by coach Gernot Rohr for the upcoming AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against Seychelles next month.
German-Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye who keeps goal for newly promoted German Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf met with the Rohr in November as the Super Eagles stepped up preparations for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.
Rohr confirmed his meeting with the 18 year old and also revealed the goalkeeper is in his plans for the senior national team of Nigeria while mentioning the young goalkeepers he is wants to groom for the Super Eagles number one spot.
Francis Odinaka Uzoho established himself as first choice for the foreseeable future after a strong showing at the World Cup but Rohr want competition for every spot in the team.
Okoye is prime to provide it as he has made the step up from the youth team of Dusseldorf to the main team and he is presently training with them at their pre season camp ahead of their campaign in the Bundesliga.
Unconfirmed reports has it that he is now the third choice goalkeeper of the team, something similar to the role Uzoho was playing at Deportivo La Coruna when he was made first choice by Rohr.
