Belgium top division side Gent have identified Chelsea Nigerian defender Kenneth Omeruo as their prime target in defence ahead of the start of next season , where they will campaign in the Europa League.
Omeruo has been on the books of Chelsea for five seasons but just like many young players in the squad of the team the past few years he has been shipped out on loan since joining the club.
A strong showing at his last loan club in Turkey Kasimpasa was followed by another impressive display for Nigeria at the World Cup and expectedly interest has soared in his services.
However he still has two years to run on his deal at Chelsea and a decision will not be made on his exit from the team unless the issue of who will be in charge of the team is settled as there are doubts over the future of Antonio Conte.
Former Napoli coach Maurizo Sarri is the favourite for the job and if he is eventually appointed, he will be the one to decide on the future of the 25 year old Nigerian who might likely be a part of the first team squad for pre season training when they resume.
