The coach of the Nigerian U17 team Manu Garba says his boys are still not fully prepared for their upcoming Africa Youth Championship Qualifiers despite another big win against Dreams FC in a friendly game.
So far they have scored a total of 50 goals from 8 friendly games against selected youth football teams in Nigeria with the 6-0 thrashing of Dreams FC on Saturday.
Despite their convincing display so far, Manu insist that there are certain areas which his players need to improve on especially in the area of finishing off chances as it will come handy when they take part in the zonal qualifiers.
” So far, so good but there are still some areas we need to work on, particularly in attack where we are guilty of wasting too many chances to score. Our defenders now understand how we want to play as well”, Manu told Owngoalnigeria.com in an exclusive chat.
” The qualifiers is going to be in tournament format, so that means we have to prepare for it like it is and not on the usual home and away basis. We have talented kids here but the work is still far from over”, he concluded.
