Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup Enyimba FC of Aba moved to top of Group C with a narrow 1-0 win over visiting Williamsville Athletic Club of Ivory Coast.
The former CAF Champions League champions edged the visiting side courtesy of a 7th minute goal by Ibrahim Mustapha at the Liberation Stadium in Port Hacourt.
Enyimba are now top of group C with six points, two more than Williamsville after three rounds of game in the group, which also has Malian side Djoliba and Congo Brazzaville outfit CARA.
However Enyimba’s lead at the top could be matched by CARA if they are able to get a good result away to Djoliba in the second group game scheduled to take place by 8pm Nigerian time.
Djoliba are on one point, while CARA have three points thanks to their 3-0 win over Enyimba in the second round of group games. Djoliba need a win to keep their hope of qualifying from the group alive.
