Both teams were forced into penalty shoot out and the Nigerian duo of Victor Moses ans Alex Iwobi who were subbed on for Chelsea and Arsenal respectively made their marks .
Moses who wore the captain armband following the substitution of Cesar Azpilicueta netted emphatically by sending Petr Cech the wrong way during the shoot out.
However it was Iwobi who has the last laugh as the 22 year old dispatched with conviction for Arsenal in sudden death to help the Gunners seal the win after Rueben Loftus-Cheek effort was saved by Cech.
The save was the second save made by the goalkeeper from the spot as he also stopped Alvaro Morata’s effort in the first half of the game to deny him the chance of putting Chelsea two goals up.
