Kelechi Nwakali has taken the first step towards the first team of Portuguese giants FC Porto with his first goal for the B team in their pre season friendly against Cesarense.
Nwakali joined Porto on loan from Arsenal but the deal involves the 20 year old spending time with the B team of the Portuguese side before making the step up to the main team.
Porto have a clause which gives them the first option of making his deal permanent after his loan spell at the end of next season, a clause which Arsenal were forced to include by the Portuguese side.
Already tipped for a senior role for Nigeria, Nwakali wasn’t the only Nigerian who played for Porto B in the pre season encounter as former Nigeria U17 star Musa Yahaya also played in the game.
Yahaya was ever present for Porto B last season in their engagements in the second division with his strong showing in his new role as a right wing-back sparking talks of a step up to the first team next season.
