French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux are now the front runners to sign Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu from Belgium side Gent according to several reports in France monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team.
Kalu has been linked with a move from Gent after a break away season last time out in Belgium, and Monaco were among a host of club who failed to reach an agreement for his transfer as their bid was rejected by Gent.
German Bundesliga side Bayern Leverkusen were as at last week leading the race for his signature but their deal for him is hinged on their abilities to move Jamaican winger Leon Bailey who is widely expected to leave the club before the end of the current transfer window.
Bordeaux are in the marker for a wing forward to make up for the departure of Brazilian winger who joined Barcelona last week and the club technical crew have identified Kalu as a like for like replacement.
A fee in excess of €15m should be good enough to force Gent into parting with the forward, although they have him in their squad for this weekend game in the Belgium league. A move which means a deal is not imminent.
