Ventspils free-scoring forward Adeleke Adeyemi is in line for a first time call up to the senior national team of Nigeria after scoring his seventh goal in the Europa League in their 1-3 loss against French side Bordeaux.
As reported by Owngoalnigeria.com yesterday, coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr watched the game and even held talks with Akinyemi and the two other Nigerians at the club Abdullahi Alfa and Tosin Aiyegun.
Akinyemi’s tally of seven goals in the Europa League qualifiers from just four games is believed to have caught the attention of Rohr considering the fact that he is not playing as the main striker of the team.
He scored six goals over two legs in their first qualification game against Albanian outfit Lufterari FC, a tally which includes four goals in the first leg clash which they won 5-0. His other goal was the striker against Bordeaux yesterday but in the league he has found the back of the net 13 times in 16 games.
Super Eagles coach Rohr is looking out for forwards who can guarantee goals and Akinyemi appears to have joined the list of players he is considering for a call up for their next AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against Seychelles next month.
