Nigeria international forward Moses Simon has opened up on the reason behind his failed move to English Premier League side Liverpool in an exclusive chat with Owngoalnigeria.com.

Simon was heavily linked with a move to the Merseyside outfit but the move didn’t see the light of the day despite both clubs holding talks over a potential transfer.

Explaining to Owngoalnigeria.com, the 22 year old said the move didn’t materialise after Liverpool went cold on his chase as he will be a free player as early as January, and they would rather wait till then.

” I honestly thought the move was done and dusted. Talks progressed real quick between both parties but Liverpool were a bit reluctant later on and I guess they wanted to wait till January”, Simon told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” It was something I thought about hardly but Gent did a lot for me and I need to consider what is best for them, hence my decision to insist on a move this summer for them to raise cash from my transfer”.

Speaking on his decision to join Levante despite interest from French Ligue 1 side St. Etienne, Simon said the La Liga is to him more attractive at this stage of his career than the French Ligue 1.

” Last season Levante defeated Barcelona and I watched the game. That was the moment I started noticing them even though I know of their presence in the La Liga. Ligue 1 is not a bad league and St. Etienne are not a bad club to be honest but for now La Liga looks best for me”, Simon concluded.
