Kelechi Nwakali has his first baptism of fire as a player of Porto B in a competitive fixture in their league opener which they scandalously lost 0-4 to Estoril in the second division in Portugal.
Estoril proved too strong for the B team of Porto with Sandro Lima and Roberto bagging a brace apiece to condemn Porto B to a heavy defeat in the first round of games in the Portuguese second division.
Nwakali was on for the entire duration of the game but his performance didn’t match the same height he reached during their pre season games where he bagged a goal and an assist in the two consecutive games he played.
A loan signing from Arsenal, his performance will be the base upon which he will be judged for possible promotion to the first team, which might force them to trigger the option of signing him permanently in the summer as agreed in his loan deal.
The other Nigerian at the club Musa Yahaya was also on for the entire duration of the game and he came close to scoring twice with strong overlapping runs from his new found role as a right wing back for the B team of Porto.
