The first choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Francis Odinaka Uzoho is presently locked in talks with Spanish second division side Elche in view of a loan move from Deportivo La Coruna.
After being told in clear terms that he won’t be part of the first team at Deportivo La Coruna who are also campaigning in the second division, the 19 year old has been on the look out for a temporary move.
Sporting Director of Elche Jorge Cordero views the Nigerian as a his top target to solve their goalkeepers crisis after last season first choice goalkeeper Unai Simon returned to Athletic Bilbao although they are open to the idea of having him back in January.
Elche will be open to the idea of having Simon in January with Uzoho expected to be away with Nigeria for the African Cup of Nations. A move that shows how confident they are in their bid to lure Uzoho.
However, the issue of which club will pick up his salary during the expected loan deal is what has kept the deal hanging but talks are progressing nicely with both parties eager to see the deal go through.
