Trabzonspor New Signing Nwakaeme – I Snubbed Move To China To Help My Chances With Super Eagles

Nigeria international forward Anthony Nwakaeme says he could have moved to China from Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva but instead moved to Trabzonspor of Turkey to aid his chances with the senior national team of Nigeria.

29 year old Nwakaeme joined the Turkish side on a three year deal three days ago but according to the player he could easily have moved to China, where he would have earned more money but settled for Turkey to keep his dream of playing for Nigeria alive.

Nwakaeme has played once for the senior national team of Nigeria and that was in their final World Cup 2018 Qualifiers game against Algeria, but prior to that game he has previously made the bench for three different games.

” Everything is not about money, there is also the possibility of staying in contention for a place with Nigeria. I am a very competitive person and I love to challenge myself”, he told BBC Sport.

At six time Turkish champions Trabzonspor he will be reunited with national team colleague Ogenyi Onazi and he has state the reason why he joined the team from Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

” Trabzonspor has big ambitions and as a professional footballer this is what I need. I saw the opening game of the season, I love the amazing atmosphere, fans and stadium here”.
